No. 7 Purdue makes quick work of Nebraska

Zach Edey scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds in just 20 minutes Friday night as No. 7 Purdue established a 17-2 lead and never looked back in a 92-65 rout of Nebraska at West Lafayette, Ind.Jaden Ivey added 17 points and five assists for the Boilermakers (14-2, 3-2 Big 10), while Trevion Williams came off the bench to chip in 10 points.Purdue connected on 49.2 percent of its field-goal attempts and enjoyed a 28-7 advantage in points off turnovers.Keisei Tominaga scored a team-high 11 points for the Cornhuskers (6-12, 0-7), who shot a 45.6 percent from the field but hurt themselves with 17 turnovers. They were also outrebounded 41-31.Nebraska’s C.J. Wilcher and Alonzo Verge Jr. added 10 points apiece.The Cornhuskers, who dropped to 5-41 in their past 46 conference games, found foul trouble at the start of both halves. Center Derrick Walker, who played Illinois All-America candidate Kofi Cockburn to a standstill Tuesday night in an 81-71 loss, fouled out with eight points after just 20 minutes.Nebraska’s leading scorer, Bryce McGowens, also found quick foul trouble, picking up two fouls before the first TV timeout. He was held to nine points in 33 minutes.The game’s tone was set on the Boilermakers’ first possession. Purdue drew a quick foul on Walker before shaking Sasha Stefanovic loose on a pick play. He nailed a 3-pointer from the top of the key, and Purdue never looked back.
